Greenscapes Water Challenge Instructions

Join the Greenscapes Water Challenge

Save water and the environment

You could earn $500 for your favorite charity

What: Put together a team from your church or favorite organization to compete with other teams in your town to see which team can consume the least amount of water between July 15 and September 30. The winning team will receive $500 for their favorite charity, and the pride of knowing they have saved precious summertime water.

The following towns will each have their own Water Challenge with a $500 prize. Only residents from these towns are eligible to compete: Hanover, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, and Scituate.

Why: In summertime water use doubles, just when water is least plentiful due to droughts and the demand for lawn watering. Often there is not enough water to support fish in our streams and our reservoirs are diminished.

How: Put together a team of 5 households or more, and register your team. The NSRWA and the Greenscapes program will e-mail you water-saving tips throughout the challenge to help you reduce water consumption. The winning team will be calculated by determining which team consumes the least amount of water per person between July 15 and September 30.

Instructions:

1. Form a team of 5 or more households. A household can be one or more people - we're just looking for people residing at 5 separate addresses within a participating community.

2. Register your team. It's easy! All we need is your name, e-mail address and town. (You must be a resident of Hanover, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke or Scituate to participate).

3. Greenscapes and the NSRWA will send you a confirmation e-mail.

4. Three times during the Greenscapes Water Challenge, we ask you to read your meter and send us your water meter reading - July 15, August 31 and September 30.

4. You will receive weekly water conservation ideas via e-mail from Greenscapes and the NSRWA.

5. Conserve water, have fun, save money on your water bill, and hopefully learn a thing or two.

Please don't hesitate to call us with questions at 781-659-8168 or e-mail Debbie at debbie@nsrwa.org.

Good luck! May the best water-conserving team win!
