On Monday, September 26 the NSRWA will host their 9th annual Harvest Moon Feast at the Mill Wharf. Overlooking the water on Scituate Harbor, the Harvest Moon Feast is a South Shore tradition. Proceeds from this event directly support environmental education programs which provide children and adults unique opportunities to engage in hands-on environmental science and to learn about protecting our rivers. This year guests will be treated to the relaxing jazz sound of the Lance Van Lenten Quartet. Members of the group have performed or recorded with renowned artists such as Chaka Khan, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente, John Williams, Aretha Franklin, Jane Lynch and Frankie Valli.

Attendees will enjoy tastings from the South Shore’s finest restaurants. The Silent Chef, a family-owned caterer in Scituate, has established an impressive reputation for pleasing palates for groups large and small. Don Fait, co-owner and chef for over 25 years, offers a variety of cuisines for a diverse group of clients at his establishment. For the Harvest Moon Feast they will be serving their amazing  BLT Ciabatta Slider, featuring their own House Smoked Bacon, Baby Arugula and Heirloom Tomato with a Sriracha Mayonaise on a Mini Ciabatta Roll.

PJ’s Country House, owned and operated in Scituate by the O’Brien family for three generations, is another Harvest Moon Feast featured restaurant. For more than 25 years, under the management of Geoffrey O’Brien, the, PJ’s tradition has continued. Over the years, their menus have evolved reflecting current trends to include lighter fare and pub menus with creative specialties to help satisfy their loyal diners. At the Harvest Moon Feast, PJ’s Country House will be serving their famous PJ’s Clam Chowder.

Patrons will also get to sample craft beers from Goose Island Beer, Chicago and Blue Point Brewing Company of Patchogue New York, as well as fine wines from area distributors. The Blue Point Brewing Company is Long Island’s only microbrewery. The brewery’s unique direct-fire, brick brew kettle, dismantled brick by brick from a brewery in Maryland and rebuilt in Patchogue imparts a lightly toasted, complex taste to produce a line of ultra premium microbrews.
