October 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

To celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, the NSRWA is hosting a guided Wild Rice Kayak Paddle on the freshwater tidal marshes of the North River. We will paddle out into the Indian Head River starting from the Hanover Canoe Launch. In addition to exploring the amazing landscape, participants will learn a traditional way the Indigenous people of the South Shore would harvest and process wild rice, an important food source as they entered the fall season.

Meet at the Hanover Canoe Launch at 2 Indian Head Dr. Hanover, MA.  Paddle begins at 1 pm, please arrive early.

The Wildlands Trust and Town of Hanson and Hanover Open Space Committees are leading a 6-mile hike on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.  Learn more and register here for the hike the day before the paddle!

The Indian Head River Trail Coalition is a partnership between the NSRWA, Wildlands Trust, and the Towns of Hanover, Pembroke, and Hanson. This hike and kayak paddle are part of the Indian Head River Trail Coalition’s Indigenous Peoples Weekend Celebration.
