Private yacht club in a sheltered location on the Fore River, adjacent to Smith Beach. It numerous amenities include: full floating docks, gasoline, a new travel lift, plus electricity, cable tv, and water at all 115 slips. Also, a beautiful clubhouse with a deck overlooking the yacht basin, a swimming pool, and a completely dredged basin.
Features
The Metropolitan Yacht Club dates back to 1947, when Isadore Bromfield led a group of 36 men to organize their own club. Bromfield was of Jewish descent, and at the time, due to rampant discrimination, he was unable to join a yacht club in the Boston area. After an exhaustive search, they decided to establish their club on the Fore River in East Braintree, on the site of Goodhue’s Shipyard. The club’s website offers a detailed account of its establishment and early days.

No trails on site, but nearby, check out the Patty Whitehouse Scenic Overview Trail and the Monatiquot River Walk.
Habitats and Wildlife
Located on the Fore River, which serves as the boundary line between the towns of Weymouth and Braintree. It flows for about 3 miles, into Quincy, where it meets Town River, and then flows for another 2 miles into Hingham Bay. In its final few miles, the Fore River is nearly a mile wide in some places. Follow the Fore River Watershed Association more information about the Monatiquot and Fore Rivers.
