The 1898 Portland Gale: The Storm that Changed the River’s Mouth Walk

Saturday, November 24th, 2018 11:00 am–12:30 pm

Join Kezia Bacon, NSRWA’s nature columnist, for a tour of the Rexhame Dunes, which prior to 1898 was the location of the mouth of the North & South Rivers. Kezia will explain how the storm known as the Portland Gale changed the course of the rivers, and subsequently altered the lives of many area residents. As we’ll be walking primarily on sand, sturdy footwear is recommended. No dogs, please. (Meet in the Rexhame Beach parking area, at the end of Standish Street in Marshfield.)

The program is free, however, registration is required.
