with Kezia Bacon and NSRWA
Sunday, January 14th (MLK weekend)
Two Mile Village is a section of Marshfield with a rich history of milling and salt marsh haying. Join Kezia Bacon to explore two adjoining conservation areas in this relatively quiet part of town. We’ll catch glimpses of the North River and its marshes as we walk woodland trails and old cart paths through both the Jose Carreiro Woodland (town-owned) and Two Mile Reservation (managed by The Trustees). Along the way, Kezia will discuss the history of the area — the river and its shipbuilding industry, the mills and factories along Two Mile Brook, salt-haying, and much more. Meet at the entrance to Jose Carreiro Conservation Area, at the end of Maryland Street (off Union Street) in Marshfield. Plenty of on-street parking! No dogs please.
This walk is offered at no charge, however we ask that you please register in advance. Click here to register.
