The North and South Rivers Watershed Association held a raffle for two custom painted rain barrels at the Norwell and Hanover Libraries. Pat Pervane (shown above) was the winner of the rain barrel created by our Hanover High School intern Caroline MacDonald. Pat is a retired Boston Public School teacher working part time at the John Curtis Library in Hanover. She lives in Hanover with five hens, a rooster and a pony. Pat said her organic vegetable garden and numerous flowers will certainly benefit from the addition of the new rain barrel!

The second rain barrel, painted by our Norwell High School intern Makenna Palzkill, was won by Norwell resident Evan Fitzwilliam. She said they love their new rain barrel and can’t wait to get it hooked up. (She also said she’ll send a picture once they get it installed.)

Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who entered! We will be having another rain barrel sale in the spring in conjunction with our Gardening Green Expo.
