Hello! My name is Tess Walter and I am from Scituate MA. I am currently a senior at the University of Delaware. I am majoring in Environmental Studies and I also have minors in Public Policy and Spanish. I will be graduating this May with the hopes of pursuing a career in environmental policy. Although I am not sure exactly what I want to do upon graduation I have many broad interests including sustainability, renewable energy and planning.  I have always had a great love for the outdoors and wildlife and I hope that down the road I can have a hand in making the world a better place to live.

This past January I have been fortunate enough to intern with the North and South Rivers Watershed Association. Having grown up in Scituate it was hard not to fall in love with all of the bodies of water around me. I was intrigued by what NSRWA was doing in my community and knew I wanted to get involved and help out. I have always stood behind the idea that local community efforts can make a large impact on our environment in the future and I admired the types of outreach and education the Watershed Association was doing.

It has been such a great experience being able to witness first hand all the hard work that goes into this organization and to learn more about the inner workings of a non-profit. I have been able to assist with many interesting projects that have expanded my knowledge of our watershed and the importance of keeping this ecosystem healthy. From science to mapping, marketing and membership there are so many dimensions to NSRWA that I was able to do work with. It has been a real pleasure being able to intern with such a great organization, thanks for everything!
