Our Great River Racers are a hardy bunch! Despite 100 degree heat, a fun time was had by all at the 32nd annual race. This year there were 165 racers registered in 146 boats including stand up paddle boards. Some of the participants raced, and some took a leisurely paddle up the river.

The fastest boat was David Wiltey in the Kayak Single Men 65+ division with a time of 1:00:36. The second fastest time went to Craig and Chad Wolfe in the Rowing Sliding Seat Double division with a time of 1:01:55.

There were even some best decorated vessels. The best decorated prize went to Laurel Buckley with her gator boat and second place went to Melani Gangi with her flower powered stand up paddle board.

We are so thankful to our FundRacers who helped us raise funds to support our outdoor programming. The FundRacers raised more than $4,000, and the top fundraisers were 1) George Baumgarten, 2) Robert Tuzik, and 3) Vicki Pelletier.  There’s still time to lend your support, simply go to our website and make your pledge.

Thank you to all of our corporate sponsors, please go to our website and support them with your business. A special thank you to our on the water Great River Race Safety Team for keeping everyone safe and hydrated including the Marshfield Harbormaster, Pembroke Police and Pembroke Fire Departments as well as our safety kayakers and pontoon boat and Norwell Police for traffic management. And thank you to all the volunteers, we couldn’t have done this without you!
