The Friends of South River Park and Greenway hosted a reception to honor veterans at Marshfield’s South River Park today. Many people made use of the grounds while enjoying the parade on this beautiful day. The North and South Rivers Watershed Association is a founding member of the Friends of SRPG. The Friends group was established last year to bring additional resources and volunteers to maintain the South River Park and to work together to fulfill our vision of a connected network of open space and kayak access along the South River that will bring people and nature back to the South River. NSRWA recently donated and installed signage about the nature of the South River and the meadow on the property.

Susan Caron, Friends of SRPG advisory board leader said, “The South River Park is being enjoyed by many during the Veterans Day parade. The park has been, and continues to be, a true collaboration between the town of Marshfield and the NSRWA. Interpretive signage detailing the nature of the river and pollinator garden are recent additions donated by the NSRWA. The park would not have been possible without this great partnership.”

The day was one of great energy and the volunteers received enthusiastic thanks from the many visitors. They are already looking forward to next year.
