In addition to our RiverWatch Water Quality Monitoring, the NSRWA will have a separate water quality monitoring program focused on the headwaters of the North River (Indian Head River, Drinkwater River, French’s Stream, and nearby tributaries). The Town of Hanover received funding from MassDEP to work with the NSRWA to iteratively test these streams to determine where higher bacterial counts might be coming from, and whether the source might be stormwater or wastewater. Volunteers will collect samples on a regularly scheduled basis from late April through September. They will also need to be able to respond to anticipated rainstorms to collect wet weather samples. Volunteers will be needed to drive samples to a lab in Quincy for testing. A training will be held in late April to early May.
